We had out big winter storm a couple days ago here in Chicago. We got a crazy amount of snow, the wind was insane and there was tons of lightning. It was kind of amazing. My work decided to give us a snow day which was awesome because it meant I didn’t really have to deal with the snow right away. When I finally went outside yesterday there was more than 2 feet of snow in the street, and in some places it was even deeper because of all the wind. My dog, Lula, had never seen snow like this before and it kinda shorted out her brain. Snow is already magic for her because when she eats it, it turns into water, and she kept trying to get up on the big drifts thinking they were solid and kept falling in and flipping out. It was pretty cute. I thought it’d be nice to look at some snowflake stuff and take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the snow is before it gets all dirty and slushy in the city.
Pretty snowflake embroidered pattern on a bright red vintage apron. Is good. Over on etsy being sold by EmmaDear.
More pretty vintage, this time a whole dress embroidered with snowflakes. Also on etsy, seller Deomas.
Flowers on snowflakes brooch. Again, Etsy, seller Roseacrecottage.
This abstract snowflake necklace kind of looks like it's made of jacks. It's Anndra Neen and a little out of my price range at $450.
These are some cool snowflake drawings done by artist Marian Bantjes that were used by Saks for their 2008 winter season, the bag is above. They ended up have different artists take the drawings and re-interpret Marian's already abstracted snowflake drawings into pieces of jewelry. Very expensive jewelry. Most of it I'm not so into cus it's pearls and diamonds and crap. I do like what was made for the one below which is the antler snowflake, and below it are the two pieces that it inspired. Just guess what those retailed for and then scroll down to find out if you're right.
Aren't they pretty? Well they should be. the gold one is a pendant by Marco Bicego and it cost $27,230. Fear not though, there's something for us poor folks too! The red enamel necklace, which looks like it's made of coral, is by by Roberto Coin and comes in at a mere $12,500, so you can afford to get a couple.
