This week has blown so hard. Really, this post could be called "Fuck this Week" because everything has been stupid. I've been sick all week, and work has been horrible. This morning I woke up late because I forgot to set my alarm. I jumped out of bed and found that one of the cats had decided to poop in the doorway of my bedroom. I guess someone didn't appreciate having to wait to get fed. I looked at them all sitting in the kitchen and said, "Who did this?" And they just sat there, stonewalling me, the fuckers.
Anyway, I saw this, and it made me happy.
I dunno, maybe, maybe not. I've never seen check print glitter vinyl, so it may be something else, but it got me thinking about if there's a way to use sparkle vinyl for something wearable that wouldn't be massively tacky.
I love, love, love glitter vinyl. I love it. I'm a girl with 4 cats, and vinyl is one of the best fabrics for dealing with all the shit those jerks dish out. Their hair doesn't stick to it, they don't like to claw it, and if they throw up on it I can just wipe it clean. And sparkle vinyl is, well, sparkly and generally come in bright pretty colors. I recovered these stools myself, it was my first time sewing with vinyl and piping and they turned out great, I think.
My husband and I bought those stools for $10 each at Home Depot in the clearance section, but they were originally covered in a H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E Nascar print. For real. Enter glitter vinyl, which cost me $15 for a yard of it, and they are now one of my favorite things in the apartment.
I was looking around at other glitter vinyl stuff today and came across this chair
Yes. Unfortunately it's pricey, but you can admire it on etsy from seller NikAngel. I looked on etsy to see if there was anything made of glitter vinyl that one could wear, and wasn't super ugly. There were some cute hair bows, but hair bows aren't really my style, and I'm thirty, and I'm pretty sure at this point that me + hair bows = stupid. There were lots of wallets and purses that were cute, and then I came across these.
Yeah, those are sparkle vinyl heart shaped eye patches. They are from seller annebvinyl on etsy, and she has lots of cute little things made out of sparkle vinyl. These remind me of a quote from James St. James where he said, "It doesn't matter what you look like! I mean if you have a hunchback, just throw a little glitter on it, honey, and go dancing." Well, if I ever lose an eye I'll be reaching for the glitter vinyl, but till then I just don't know if it really works for something wearable. Maybe I'll try playing with some of the vinyl I have left over from the stools to see if I can make something that's not awful. We'll see. Have a good weekend!
